About the Division
The Women's Affairs Division is an active administrative unit at the University of Basrah for Oil and Gas, dedicated to supporting and empowering university women, including faculty members, staff, and students. It works to enhance their role in academic, social, economic, and legal aspects. The division strives to establish principles of equality and equal opportunity, reduce all forms of discrimination, raise awareness of women's rights, and enhance their participation in leadership and decision-making positions, in line with national strategies and policies approved in the field of women's empowerment and sustainable development.
Division Tasks
- Empowerment and Leadership: Supporting women's empowerment and increasing their participation in leadership positions and university committees, and enhancing their role in decision-making.
- Academic and Professional Support: Developing women's scientific and professional capabilities, encouraging their participation in conferences, seminars, and scientific workshops, and supporting entrepreneurial initiatives and projects.
- Awareness of Women's Rights: Raising awareness of the legal and human rights of women, promoting a culture of equality, and contributing to combating all forms of violence and discrimination through awareness and training programs.
- Media and Community Outreach: Highlighting the achievements of university women and promoting a positive image of them in the media and various social media platforms.
- Implementation of National Strategies: Monitoring the implementation of the axes of the National Strategy for Iraqi Women, including social, economic, political, legal, and environmental axes.
- Documentation of Achievements: Documenting success stories and outstanding models of women in academic, administrative, and community fields, and highlighting them as inspiring role models.
- Implementation of Developmental Programs: Preparing and implementing programs and initiatives that support economic, political, social, psychological, and environmental axes, contributing to the development of women's capabilities and enhancing their role in sustainable development.
