About the Department
The Department of Construction and Projects is responsible for supervising the implementation of construction and development projects at the university, monitoring maintenance and rehabilitation works, and ensuring projects are executed according to approved technical specifications and strict timelines. It also prepares plans and future studies for infrastructure development to foster a sustainable university environment that supports the educational and research process.
The Department is one of the administrative units affiliated with the University Presidency, responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring infrastructure and urban development projects in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Planning Studies: Preparing preliminary and planning studies for the university’s needs regarding new buildings, facilities, and future expansions in line with the university's master plan, as well as studies for investment projects.
- Technical Studies & Budgets: Preparing technical studies and documents necessary for annual investment and operational budget projects, particularly for construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation.
- Engineering Consultation: Providing engineering and technical consultations to all university formations regarding civil, architectural, and structural works, as well as mechanical, electrical, sanitary, and HVAC systems.
- Engineering Supervision: Supervise projects executed under the investment budget, investment laws, or state property rental laws. Participating in supervision and handover committees, and supervising direct-execution maintenance works.
- Progress Monitoring: Following up on project execution through specialized committees, preparing periodic progress reports (technical and financial), identifying challenges, and proposing solutions.
- Maintenance Estimates: Preparing engineering lists and estimates for maintenance and rehabilitation of buildings and infrastructure, and supervising their execution according to valid regulations.
Department Divisions
The Department of Construction and Projects consists of the following divisions:
1. Planning and Follow-up Division:
- Preparing engineering designs and layouts.
- Calculating estimated costs for university projects.
- Managing official correspondence and coordination with relevant governmental and non-governmental entities.
2. Project Execution Division:
- Site supervision for project execution.
- Verifying execution according to approved engineering plans.
- Monitoring technical and time-based progress rates.
- Ensuring compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, and timelines.
- Following up on laboratory tests for construction materials to ensure quality.
