The Cybersecurity Unit at the University of Basrah for Oil and Gas is a specialized unit administratively affiliated with the University President, and it performs its technical and administrative duties in coordination with the Cybersecurity Department in the Information Technology Directorate of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Digital Infrastructure Protection Tasks
The unit assumes responsibility for protecting the university's digital infrastructure, enhancing information security, and securing sensitive academic and administrative data, ensuring the continuity of digital services and the efficiency and reliability of electronic systems.
Fostering Cybersecurity Culture
The unit also works to instill a culture of cybersecurity within the university by spreading security awareness among faculty members, staff, and students, and promoting adherence to best national and international practices and standards in the field of cybersecurity, thereby contributing to reducing electronic risks, protecting digital assets, and ensuring a secure digital environment supporting the educational, research, and administrative processes.
